Gazing at this mesmerising waterfall – one of the UK’s highest – it’s easy to see how Grey Mare’s Tail got its name, with its tall, thin line of white frothing water.
The waterfall which plunges 60 meters down into the Moffat Water Valley, a landscape created by glacial erosion over millions of years, is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts.
Enjoy a variety of walking routes on the Nature Reserve. Wherever you stand, the views are fantastic and you might even catch sight of a bird of prey or feral goat.
