Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Reserve, Dunkeld

A peaceful haven for watching wildlife

If you love bird-watching, then visit this site run by the Scottish Wildlife Trust. From late March until August, Ospreys which nest just 150 metres from the observation hide, breed and it has the oldest female Osprey in Europe who returns to the nest each year while everyone holds their breath as to whether she will make the long and hazardous journey from Africa or not.

The site is small but well run and you can also watch red squirrels, pheasants, ducks, and a whole host of small birds, feeding at feeders while you sit indoors. We loved going up there. Fantastic!
